Non-Alcoholic Beer Brands You'll Actually Want to Drink

Need to be a designated driver, but hate seltzer? Check out these non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink.

Most people drink beer for two reasons: flavor, and to get blitzed. We love to get drunk. That's why we all think sober challenges suck, and why beer tastings rock.

Unfortunately, there are some times where you legitimately can't get drunk if you want to keep friendships — or your car — intact. In these cases, most designated drivers tend to choose seltzer or water as their drink of choice.

Beer flavor is hard to give up though, and thankfully, you don't have to worry about that anymore. The truth is that you can find decent non-alcoholic beer out there. Here are some great non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink.

Beck's Non-Alcoholic

If you love beer that has a very sugary scent to it, then you'll find Becks to be one of the best non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink. This beer is super-light in taste, which means it's a great beer to pair with seafood and other equally light meat.

Of all the brands out there, this tends to have the most honey-like scent to it. So, if that's an aroma you enjoy, then Beck's will be pretty good to try out.

O'Doul's

O'Doul's is one of those beer brands that is known for non-alcoholic beer. This is because it's the most common non-alcoholic beer in grocery stores, and to a point, was made as a crutch for people who were looking to quit drinking while maintaining the illusion of drinking.

Though O'Doul's has a pretty cruddy reputation, it does taste a lot like beer that would have alcohol in it — and also tends to have a nice, bready smell to it.

Coors N.A.

Coors is really good at making generic beer. It's not fancy. It's not pretentious, and it doesn't really do much of anything for food pairings. However, that's actually the glorious thing about Coors.

It's just like toast. It's plain, tastes like beer, and in that sense, is one of the best non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink. You will feel like you're actually drinking.

Paulaner

Ah, now we're getting to the really good beer brands. Paulaner is one of the best German beer brands out there, and is regularly featured as an Oktoberfest beer in major brewing festivals, due to the brewery's talent.

Paulaner offers a nice, crisp and satisfying drink — even when it comes to their non-alcoholic beers. As a result, they're one of the best non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink, whenever you get a chance to grab their stuff.

Guinness Kaliber

Yes, Guinness Kaliber is considered to be one of the better non-alcoholic beers. It's got a rich color, and a very toffee-like flavor profile. However, it's not overly sweet. It's a lot like a milk stout with a dash of sugar in it, and we mean that in the best way possible.

Overall, Guinness makes a good brew, and that includes the beers that don't have any alcohol in them. This toasted beer does have a nice aftertaste, which makes it's one of the better non-alcoholic beers out there.

There's plenty of gastropub food to pair with beer like Guinness's Kaliber. So, pairings won't be too bad, either.

Gerstel

Gerstel is usually known for very flavorful beers, however, Gerstel Non Alcoholic, the brand's alcohol-free beer, is really mild in flavor. When chilled, it offers a bitter yet refreshing drink worth checking out from time to time.

To give you an idea, one reviewer from Gizmodo described the flavor to be akin to "cold barley tea," and we're actually going to agree with that sentiment. It's a beer that doesn't quite taste like beer, but still tastes good enough to make this list.

Erdinger

Another one of the top German beer brands out there is Erdinger, and they are one of the best non-alcoholic beer brands you'll actually want to drink. This is a rare non-alcoholic beer in the sense that it tastes like a legitimately alcoholic weisse beer.

If you're a fan of satisfying, flavorful beers that have a good punch of fizz to them, then Erdinger's will be one of your new faves. It's that good, and it can even fool critics into thinking that it's got alcohol in it.
